Flexi-time, Work From Home, and more work trends

Looking back, we can’t help but notice how far we’ve come in terms of work trends. The way we work has evolved significantly over the years, from the traditional nine-to-five office job to the rise of remote work and telecommuting, things keep changing and trying to keep up with the pace technology is evolving.

Out with the Old, In with the New

We live in a world where when people say they have a “regular office job”, they’re stereotypically expected to be working inside an office with a dedicated desk space called a “cubicle”. Work hours are 9AM to 5PM, they have lunch, they take short breaks, and then return to their workstations. These people commuted from their homes to the office to have face-to-face meetings (though let’s be real, some of those meetings could have just been communicated via email or a Slack message), worked five days a week (but rarely under 40 hours a week), and commute the way back home.

Some people (specifically bosses from middle to upper management) say that this promotes a culture of productivity and glues together the team as face-to-face interactions are argued to be more conducive to facilitating discussions.
